Privacy Policy
Rei Japanese collects only what you type into our forms: your name, your email address and your answers about your Japanese. We use it to send you what you asked for and to reply to you. We never sell it, and this site runs no tracking cookies, analytics or advertising scripts.
Who we are
Rei Japanese teaches Japanese from zero through our videos and our community on Skool. Rei Japanese is run by SJA Ondernemingen (KvK 99843072), which is responsible for your data. We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For anything about your data, email senne@socialcommerce.eu.
What we collect and why
When you take the placement test and ask for your roadmap, we collect your email address and your level, so we can send you the roadmap.
When you apply for a Sprint, we collect your name, email address, current level, your goal and why you want to learn, so we can review your application and reply to you.
When you email us, we keep the conversation so we can answer you.
We collect nothing else. The legal basis is your consent when you submit a form, and our legitimate interest in answering the messages you send us.
Where your data is kept
Form submissions are stored by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, and reach us by email through Google. Both process the data on our behalf under their own data-protection terms. Our community runs on Skool: when you join, Skool's privacy policy covers your account there, and Skool handles all payments.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions for up to 12 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email senne@socialcommerce.eu and we will act on it within one month. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch data-protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
YouTube API Services
We manage our own YouTube channel, Rei Japanese, with Rei Publisher, an internal tool that only Rei Japanese uses. Rei Publisher uses YouTube API Services to upload and schedule videos to our own channel, set their titles, descriptions and thumbnails, read and reply to comments on our own videos, and read our own channel's analytics.
By using Rei Publisher, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. How Google handles data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Rei Publisher accesses and stores our own channel's video metadata, such as titles, descriptions and publish times, and its statistics, such as views, watch time and subscriber counts. It stores no personal data about viewers. When someone comments on one of our videos, Rei Publisher processes the comment text only to reply to it and keeps it for no longer than 30 days.
Access can be revoked at any time on the Google security settings page. We delete all data stored through Rei Publisher within 7 days after access is revoked, or sooner if you ask at senne@socialcommerce.eu.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page.
